We
have two worship services at First Congregational United Church
of Christ. At 8:30 a group of us meets for The Gathering. The
Gathering is an informal time of worship where we talk, pray,
sing and each week, celebrate communion. The10:30 service is our
more formal worship celebration. At 8:30 we have piano and guitars.
At 10:30 we use the organ and the choir is present.
Worship
is a time for spiritual formation. Gathering together each week
our heats are opened to one another and to God. Encountering one
another in this way we are transformed. We worship By Heart, involving
our whole selves in the worship experience, asking God’s presence
in our togetherness. Worshipping by heart we are privileged in
our encounter with God.
Worship at First Congregational is a time for opening to God’s
presence
in our lives. Our
worship celebration is one of out loud joy and contemplative
quiet. Our music is contemporary and traditional. We laugh,
we cry, sing and pray as our hearts are opened to the Holy One.
During worship, we are present to one another in love. As one body
we engage our lives at the deepest level, finding that, at root,
we are the beloved community. Worship is our deepest expression
of what it is to be human.
Once a month we share
our worship with the First Samoan Congregational Christian Church
of Santa Rosa, reaching across cultures for our common life in
God.
